My name is Amber Hewitt and I am owner of Amber Marie Photography. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Detroit, Michigan. Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I was lucky enough to be able to pursue my love for taking photos into college and ended up with a BFA in photography from College For Creative Studies in 2011. I started shooting weddings as a favor for some friends and it turned out to be a very rewarding experience, so much so that I turned it into my career. I love photographing one of the most important days in peoples lives and telling a story though my images. Perfect poses and flawless lighting is great but that's not what you will want to remember from your wedding day - a blurred image with lots of emotion says much more to me then a forced smile and stiff pose. I always tell my clients that I want them to FEEL the way their day felt when they look back through the images - that is always my ultimate goal when photographing a wedding day.
I decided on this Grosse Ile, Michigan wedding to share with you all. This one was a small, intimate wedding (about 50 guests), shot in the bride's home town - an island right on the Detroit River. This day was filled with so much love (and a wedding dress to die for by Cushnie Et Ochs). I love photographing weddings of all sizes and styles but the small weddings really nail it for me. The focus isn't on how fancy the center pieces are or how perfect of bouquets - it's about LOVE and that's what inspires me. Let the tears flow, let the double-chin kind of laughs out, hug every family member you can because that is how I create images that replicate the best memories. I'm always searching for couples that really get my work and want a nostalgic feel to their images - Eric and Amy were that couple.
