Hi! I'm Casey Tharpe! I'm a Wedding + Event Planner, Social Media Marketing and Management Maven, and a Website Designer. I also Blog for other Planners and Creative Professionals. Currently, I reside in Virginia, but my dream is to eventually live in Colorado. I love the mountains and outdoors. In 2015, I married my very best friend, Nick! Together, we have a sweet baby boy, Walker Ryan. He is almost nine months old and also two yellow labs, Banjo and Jasper. Not only do I own my own business, but I also work as an Administrative Manager at Hampden-Sydney College. There, I do the event planning and social media for our department. Thanks for reading along and I hope you are excited to view my work and story!

I remember when Third Street Brewery opened up in my hometown. Our small town is constantly growing and when a news release stated that Third Street was coming to town, I was super excited! Not only excited for beer, but also excited because a potential new venue, duh! I reached out to them after visiting the brewery and seeing the space. I asked them if they would consider holding a styled shoot to gain advertising material to open their doors to events. They said yes! I immediately started creating a mood board for a styled shoot. Third Street is incredibly industrial, which is totally my style. Therefore, I knew I needed to showcase a "pretty" industrial aspect for this styled shoot. I wanted to show others that you can have a classy event at an industrial-atmosphere venue. The exposed brick in this building is my favorite. Typically, whenever I plan and design a styled shoot, I try to bring something unique to the table. So, I brought in a waffle truck! Yum. Good Waffle and Co. had provided delicious, and totally photo-worthy desserts. For colors, I went for soft pastels with gold accent to not overwhelm the classy, but to have it be subtle. And of course, we incorporated greenery to add the earthy aspect with the wheat of the beer. My vision for the the bride's dress to be low-key, nothing fancy and the photographer, Jessica Lap, had the perfect gown! Swoon! For the cake, I wanted the drip effect. Our cake vendor, Kadi Bakes, killed it! The drip on the cake coordinated with the industrial tone colors and it even matched one of the beers. How awesome is that! Designing the tablescape is my absolute favorite part of any styled shoot, wedding, or event. To keep the industrial mood, I used geometric accents. To evoke the "pretty", the flowers did their job alone. I chose black napkins to keep the industrial feel. Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite styled shoots. I worked with new vendors, and that's also one thing that I love about styled shoots. You have the freedom to not only exercise your creative mind, but you have the opportunity to meet new creatives and collaborate on something amazing. I love the exchange of new ideas! Cheers!
