My love for photography started at a young age. I took my first photography class at 11 years old. I photographed pictures of my best friend, and my dog for hours. For years, photography was just my beloved hobby. It became part of my career many years later in the summer of 2016, after a friend asked me to take her engagement photos. I enjoyed the photoshoot so much that I decided I would take more, and more. I absolutely fell in love with wedding and engagement photography; it became my ultimate past time. During many hours, I studied, practiced and worked to perfect my craft.

Engagement photos on Black Rock Beach, Cohasset, MA by Lindsay Hovis, Boston Based Wedding photographerWhen another one of my best friends asked me to take engagement photos that summer of 2016, I jumped at the chance. I got so excited that I ran to the store and bought myself a new professional Nikon Camera and camera lens. I planned out the engagement session for hours, identified the images to capture. Lucky for me, the south shore of Massachusetts is absolutely beautiful, and makes for a perfect scene for engagement and wedding portraits. I also lucked out on the weather that day too.
My Favorite Engagement Shoot
Consequently, one of my very first engagement photoshoots actually is my favorite! After my best friend asked me to take her photos, I jumped for joy, and researched for many hours! When it comes to my photography, I am a perfectionist. I edit and shoot meticulously, with close attention to detail. I hope that the amount of effort and care I put into my work shows in the resulting images.
The location of this shoot was in a quaint coastal town in Massachusetts called Cohasset. I brought my friends to a hidden gem, called Black Rock Beach. This beach tends to be very quiet with few people there. It makes for an intimate setting perfect for a romantic engagement. The beach is picturesque with the sandy beach edged with rocky cliffs over looking the water and classic New England Homes perched atop grassy hills. It is a quintessential coastal New England town.
Light and Airy Style
My editing style is"light and airy." Therefore, my images are soft with light pastel colors, and varying shades of white. I intentionally overexpose the images to add extra light. There is a balance of negative and positive space; some images have more white space than colored. Consequently, light and airy style gives a dreamy and whimsical quality to images. I believe that true love should feel like a dream; it is magical, and wonderous; a feeling that can be hard to put to words. To the lovers and dreamers out there (whether it is the love for yourself, the love for your partner, the love for your work, or any other kind of love): "Live beautifully, dream passionately, and love completely."
