Event planning is one of the most stressful jobs in the country due to the need to solve every problem and put out every fire that can inevitably arise. A very memorable yacht wedding for GKYS was held in the beginning of June of 2019. The bride had booked with Gabrielle from Golden Knot Yacht Services at the end of 2017 to begin planning her intimate wedding on the Hudson River.
Despite record low temperatures the day she saw the yacht for the first time that January, the bride fell in love with the vessel and the upcoming months consisted of constant plans for how the Sundancer would create her dream wedding.
Two weeks before the wedding date, Gabrielle received a call from the DJ that was scheduled to play for Leah’s wedding. He relayed that the Sundancer had been struck by another yacht that had been hosting a high school’s prom the night before. With no injuries and only minor aesthetic damage, the Sundancer should’ve been fine to set sail in two weeks, however that would be too easy!
Although a minor incident, the Coast Guard was still required to do a full inspection of the yacht before it was able to set sail for any other events. This meant the Sundancer could not host the bride’s dream wedding and two weeks before the day, Gabrielle worked with the Sundancer owner behind the scenes to find another available yacht for the wedding. And not “just another yacht,” this yacht had to be comparable or better than the Sundancer. This is a promise that the owner and GKYS commit to their clients in these less than likely situations.
While fellow yacht owners were eager to lend a helping hand, limited availability during such a busy time of year proved to be a major hurdle. But low and behold, a new yacht in the area had just arrived in NYC with open availability due to the timing of the recent grand opening. It wasn't until two days prior to the big day that Gabrielle received a call from the Sundancer owner, explaining they had found and booked a larger yacht for the couple, and this wedding was going to happen just as planned!
After 2 interesting weeks and only an hour and half allocated set up time before guests began to board, this fabulous wedding was here to happen.The guests were dazzled as they began to enter the fully decorated and beautiful yacht. If it weren’t for the name change, they never would’ve known the situation. Gabrielle confidently knew everything would work out, and never doubted the couple wouldn’t have the yacht wedding of their dreams.
