Hi! I'm Amy, a lifestyle photographer in beautiful Seattle, WA. I specialize in at-home family and newborn photography. I love to photograph families in their own homes, the four walls in which they are most comfortable. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we're used to lots of rain. Having a session at home means that we never have to reschedule for bad weather, we never have to worry about crowds, and we never have to keep little kids up for the golden hour which is as late as after 9 pm in the middle of summer. Kids and many adults too are often more comfortable in their own homes and many families tell me that they were so at ease during their session. My family's homes help tell the story of who they are. I can't think of a better place to have a family session.
This newborn session is particularly meaningful to me because just a few days before, I was honored to photograph the birth. It was the most amazing experience I've ever had in my photography career and one I won't forget for a long, long time. It was so wonderful to go back when he was a few days older and see how much they had already adapted to life as a family of four. I photographed their older son when he was a newborn and it was fun to watch him as he transitioned into the role of big brother.
One thing that struck me about this beautiful newborn session was how calm they all were. It's like they were always meant to be a family of four and this new little baby just fits right in so perfectly. Big brother didn't seem to have even the tiniest amount of jealousy. You can tell they are going to grow up to be so close. One thing I always try to do during a newborn photography session is to focus on all family members as much as the newborn. Everyone has a new role to play. Mom goes from being a mom of one to a mom of two. The same goes for dad. The only baby becomes a new big brother or sister. That is momentous in their lives and it deserves to be celebrated.
