Samantha Slayton, here!
I have been photographing families and love stories for almost four years now! I have always been interested in photography but I never thought of it as a career. I remember when I was younger and my mother and I always used disposable cameras and got our film developed. I began photographing my neighbors and it quickly evolved into a part time gig. Shortly after, I was a second shooter at my first wedding and that was when I knew photography was not only a hobby, but a career for me.
SamSlay Photography is not just a business for me. It holds a very special place in my heart! One of my favorite things is all of the new people I get to meet and all of the stories I get to hear about through my business. I like getting to know my clients before each session or wedding so we can incorporate their everyday lives with their sessions. I love the “in between” moments. Learning about the moments I don’t get to see while I’m behind the camera in front of families and couples makes it that much easier to shoot during a session.
When choosing a style for SamSlay Photography I wanted something that reflected what I’m all about. I would describe my style as moody, whimsical, vibrant and rustic all rolled into one! I love trying new ideas for shoots and new editing styles. I’m a very flexible photographer who is up for anything new and different! I love to travel and find new locations that fit my style but also bring something different in for my small-town clients from the Trenton, TN area.
Of course, just like any other photographer or artist, I have many favorites. I have favorite sessions, weddings and events that I have shot. I love natural, un-posed sessions but I’m always up for a challenge, too! I chose to share this love story because this couple has just that… a love story! They have become very dear to me after just 8 months of knowing them. They are so laid back and easy-going. The challenge on this wedding day was it included the largest wedding party to this date. If you think that was a challenge, just think about how hard it was to wrangle up 14 die hard Tennessee Vols fans during the Tennessee VS. Florida football game! I’m a die-hard Florida Gators fan so it was interesting but it made the day even more fun! Football, a beautiful bride with a handsome groom and wedding cake waiting for everyone after the ceremony… What’s not to love about that?
