Jacki M Photography

Photography was never something I "set out" to do. In fact, it wasn't even on my radar. I married at a young age and went to nursing school because that was a job that seemed more stable, more safe. And although I love being a nurse, there is something about photography that fulfills my life in a way that nothing else has. I bought my first camera to document my growing family. We were having our first baby and I wanted to remember every detail. I decided I needed to learn how to use my camera... I mean really learn!  So I took a class. Jacki M Photography just snowballed from there. I love capturing moments of those around me the way I've captured moments of my own family. Pure, joyful moments you never want to forget.

In Utah, there are a ton of photographers. "So and so's uncle is a photographer!" "My next door neighbor is a photographer." "Samantha is a photographer and she's only 16!" I hear these comments all the time. At first it was discouraging but at some point it was a driving force. Setting yourself apart from other creatives can be difficult but not impossible. Nailing down a brand and building a presence is huge and knowing your gear and being able to manipulate light will make or break a session!

The thing that I have found is one of my favorite things about photography is the way the light of each session can change the look of the entire gallery. This session for example! Every single photographer knows the term "Golden Hour." This hour refers to one hour before sunset. Why does everyone know what that means? Because it makes for the prettiest and softest, golden light for your session. We can put you in front of the light and get some incredibly beautiful photos. There really is nothing that compares in my book. Soft, golden, uninhibited light is when my heart sings. I am so grateful to clients, all around me, that trust me to capture their lives and even more grateful when they trust me at "golden hour."

You know, it's true what they say... "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life!"
