Hi. I am Olga, a wedding and portrait photographer from the Philippines.
In 2009, I chanced upon an exhibit by the Baguio Photographer’s Club inside a mall. I was immensely inspired by their work that I contacted the club President and asked how to become a member. Until now I find it funny that aside from my phone’s cam and a plastic action sampler, I did not have a real camera at that time but I felt the need to ask. Found out their only requirement was an interest in photography, not fancy cameras. From there, I met several amazing people, mentors and made new friends. In photo walks, workshops and even in social media, we get to inspire one another by pulling each other up in the photography learning curve.
Originally daydreamed of becoming a travel photographer but somehow got in the wedding industry. My colleagues tell me my forte is capturing candids. When I think about it, it does give me a sense of fulfillment when I am present and fortunately clicking the shutter during once in a lifetime moments. Shooting details, especially ones that tell a story, is quite pleasurable but not as satisfying as having real laughter or a spontaneous show of intimacy frozen in a frame.
Like picking a favorite movie or book, it is also difficult to pick a favorite photo shoot or event cover because each one has an endearing memory. I do love the chances I get to be outdoor and be one with nature so I am sharing an engagement session I did at an island. I remember being quite hyped that day. I was with a beautiful couple and we were surrounded with clear, blue water. The gorgeous light and the soft sea breeze helped creativity flow. Extremely thankful I have photography to act as a sixth sense in a way that it has become a tool for me to feel, to touch and to love.
