SARAH FRENCH - MAINE PORTRAIT/WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
When asked if I would like to have my first feature on a photography blog, I was over the moon! Having been born and raised along the rugged coast of Maine that is constantly buzzing with such extraordinary photographers, it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. I’m humbled by the honor!
My name is Sarah French, and here is my story….
5 years ago, I bought my first DSLR, having no idea about manual settings, Lightroom, Photoshop, any of it! I just bought it. All I knew was that I absolutely loved being behind a camera. At that time, I was working at McDonald’s, so after saving what money I could, I took the plunge.
Yes, my photographs were pretty much average, but that only pushed me harder! I have continued to study and learn for the past 5 years, and am so happy with where I am today! 
I shoot a whole variety of portraiture, but have found a recent obsession with photographing engagement sessions and weddings. I. LOVE. WEDDINGS! The fact that I, myself am engaged to be married to the love of my life, doesn’t help the matter. But, quite frankly I “love” love.
My favorite shoot of all time is of one I recently did earlier this summer off of the coast of Sedgwick, Maine on a remote island. The photoshoot was a workshop put on by Sara Elizabeth Photography of Maine. She invited myself and 3 other photographers (Cora Gray, Madeline Dow, and Darian Goggin) with her to photograph this “styled” wedding shoot.
It was the first time ever that I had the chance to work with other local photographers, and everyone was so nice, compassionate, and more than happy to help each other!
I find myself beyond blessed to be a part of such a wonderful photographing community here in DownEast Maine, and I am looking forward to what the future holds for me in the photography industry!
