A Dreamy Autumn Wedding at Laurel Hall

At Laurel Hall we have no shortage of gorgeous events. Our historic venue lends itself well to everything from classic, elegant affairs with a modern flair, to Harry Potter themed nuptials that play off of our Hogwarts-esque architecture, to vintage inspired soirees that would impress even Jay Gatsby. We’ve seen it all and we love them all, but there is one thing we simply can’t get enough of - weddings that are jam-packed with personal touches and meaningful moments that are close to the couple’s hearts. One of our all time favorite events was a mid-September wedding that could be classified as boho chic or moody vintage inspired, but more importantly than any Pinterest-worthy description, it was wholly inspired by the couple, Simona and Al.

The wedding pulled inspiration from a few of the couple’s favorite things – their fur babies, rock music (a custom wedding poster by Phish’s designer), the bride’s Eastern European heritage (could there be a cuter bridesmaid gift than custom nesting dolls?!), vintage décor and of course Laurel Hall, which so happened to be the bride’s dream venue! The true work of art was in the way all of these seemingly unrelated sources of inspiration were brought together to create a perfectly cohesive, heartfelt day for the couple.

The ceremony took place on our dreamy terrace, set high among the treetops of the lower lawn, for a lush, romantic backdrop. As a wedding gift the couple received a gorgeous arbor that they could use for their special day and keep as a special memento for years to come. The arbor was adorned with dripping greenery, flowers, and if you look closely, Meg Catherine Flowers even added some hops for the beer lovers. As a final meaningful touch, a handmade macrame piece, by Natalie Ranae Macramae, was attached to the arch to allow the couple to literally tie the knot after saying their vows, and to serve as another piece they could transition straight from the ceremony into their home, where they will tie another knot each year on their anniversary.

To keep the secret garden vibes consistent, abundant greenery and flowers were brought into Laurel Hall’s elegant interior where they climbed the grand staircase, draped the mantles, and delicately adorned each dinner table. The moody florals and vines were a perfect complement for the dark wood interior and vintage furniture our venue and Violet Vintage provided. Upon each table top were more of their gorgeous florals, vines, and menus decked out with an adorable image of their cats. All of this to keep with the luxurious, fit for royalty feel of the evening.

With Bridget Davis Events at the helm, a dream team of vendors worked right alongside the bride and her mom to help bring all of Simona and Al’s wedding dreams to life. Each touch only served to elevate our beautiful venue to the next level and play off of all of the beautiful architectural features the building provides. The day was true perfection and one we’ll remember forever!
