More Than A Memory Photography by Maegan Williams

Hi everyone! My name is Maegan Williams.  First, thank you to Basic Invite for asking me to be featured on their blog. I am a full time mother to two amazing little girls, former Medical Lab Technician, and photographer. I have owned More Than A Memory Photography by Maegan Williams based out of Duck Springs, Alabama for a little over five years now. Five years!! I can’t even believe that it has been that long. When my oldest was born I couldn’t stand the thought of going back to work full time as an MLT. Leaving out early before she was up, then coming home late at night barely making it home for supper and she would be in the bed. So, I went and bought my first camera, a laptop, editing software and came home with no clue what I was doing or getting myself into. Countless YouTube editing tutorials, how-to videos and tons of freebie practice sessions later, I finally felt comfortable behind the camera. More Than A Memory Photography was created and the rest is history as they say. Full time led to part time, part time dwindled to just a couple of days a month for paperwork and now this is my life and what I am supposed to be doing. I am strictly self-taught and constantly learning new things but I can honestly say that I love my job.

My goal has always been {and always will be} to provide professional budget friendly photography sessions that anyone can afford. I never want people to have to say that they didn’t have photos taken because they couldn’t afford it. Life is too precious to miss capturing special memories. I have had so many families and couples come to me and say they were so glad that they could have the opportunity to shoot with me because in the past, it just wasn’t in the budget to have photos taken.

In the last year, I have expanded even further and added a studio. I now offer studio setups for themed mini sessions for children and families, composite photos as well as the styled Boudoir shoots that have become popular. The smiles, tears and giddy reactions when I send over the preview photos make my heart happy. I would have to say that my true passion in photography is the editing process. I absolutely love getting to show these ladies what they TRULY look like.

It is so hard to pinpoint one specific type session that I love to shoot the most. It excites me that I get to freeze time. From something borrowed and blue to the first vision of the bride walking down the aisle or daddy's tears during the father daughter dance. Watching families grow and being present to capture every little milestone. Or helping a worn out mom of three get glam and out of sweats for a styled Boudoir shoot so she can remember what she truly looks like. I happily take on any opportunity to capture memories and add to my More Than A Memory family. Though strictly self-taught and constantly learning new things I can honestly say I love my job and am so thankful that God gave me this opportunity.
