Hello all - I'm Jamie and I'm a Washington wedding photographer and portrait photographer. Photography nourishes my soul, and makes my heart happy. I get to meet so many wonderful people, and am invited into the most exciting chapters in their lives! Marrying their soul mates, last year of high school, engagements, pregnancy, newborns, special moments with their families, and other special occasions.
I often joke that my love of photography is in my blood because I'm half-Asian. (It's neither an incorrect, nor a bad stereotype!) But really I think my love of documenting people, places and details came from traveling, starting at a very young age. My family and I have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world. I've continued that passion for adventure with my husband. When you travel, you experience so many wonderful things and get to know such amazing people. It's almost impossible not to want to freeze moments in time and try to capture the heart of each individual.
I bought my first DSLR (oh hey, Canon Rebel!) in 2009 on a quest to find a new hobby. My husband planned fun adventures around the state, and I was in charge of photographing each new place. It quickly grew into more than just a hobby, and friends and family started asking me to take portraits, which also led to wedding photography.
It's been a growing process and I've loved every step of it. Like any professional wedding photographer, I cringe a little looking back at some of my first shoots. However, I cherish them as much as the shoots I do now. They got me to where I am, and since I'm self-taught, if I didn't have those (and the amazing people who supported me and encouraged me), I wouldn't be here today...chasing and living my dream.
My husband and I recently returned from living and working abroad for four years. So this year, I've really concentrated on my business as a wedding photographer (and portrait photographer). I'm focusing on educating myself, trying to learn something new every single day. There's always something to learn, and something I can improve on.
Seeing the world through my lens has taught me to slow down, appreciate the little things even more than before, and to step back and see the bigger picture.
My photography style is natural and bright, and definitely centered around photojournalism. My goal has always been to capture moments and emotions. To offer viewers of the images an opportunity to almost experience that moment for themselves, and to feel the emotions tied to it. My joy is freezing those special times that often fly by, and capturing the beauty, soul and uniqueness of whoever is in front of my camera.
