Empowering Women through Boudoir | Tampa Photographer - Tamarie Photography

It's not uncommon these days for a bride or a wife to gift their partner with some boudoir images. But what most women may not realize is they will also walk out with a confidence like no other and a sense of accomplishment & empowerment.

That reason right there is why I have have been doing boudoir photography for the last 10+ years.  There is no genre that I would rather photograph more. I absolutely love being able to provide women with a confidence in themselves they didn't even know existed.

So what is boudoir, you may ask?

According to Wikipedia, boudoir is "is a woman's private sitting room or salon in a furnished accommodation usually between the dining room and the bedroom, but can also refer to a woman's private bedroom." And then they define boudoir photography as, "a photographic style featuring intimate, romantic, and sometimes erotic images of its subjects in a bedroom or private dressing room environment, primarily intended for the private enjoyment of the subject and his or her romantic partners." Boudoir photos have been quite the trend for a decade or so with brides as a gift for their future hubby, but in recent times, more and more women have been approaching me to do a session for themselves.

Why should a woman do a boudoir session for herself?

It's a gift of self-love. It's about learning to be vulnerable and reaping the rewards from it. All too often we women look in the mirror and focus on what is wrong with our bodies. Boudoir is about seeing how beautiful you are and what makes you amazing! With my boudoir clients, I always try to chat with them before booking to learn more about what a session means to them and what they envision for their session. Then, after a woman books, I send them a questionnaire to learn more about what she loves about herself and where she might be self-conscious and then we work together to plan her outfits, hair, & makeup accordingly, and I use what I learn to make sure I photograph in in the right light, at the right angles, and know how to direct her to have the most confidence during her experience. My clients ALWAYS leave their session wondering WHY they were ever nervous and thinking about when they can do a session again.

How does one prepare for a boudoir session?

Yes, I know that most women will say they "aren't a model" or that they "don't know how to pose!" or "what to wear", but that is is the fun of it! I help my boudoir clients every step of the way from before, during, and after the session, so they get to sit back, relax with some pampering during hair and makeup, and just have fun as we get to play model for the afternoon! But I do have a link for my boudoir babes on "How to Prepare for a Boudoir Session" that I can send to get them feeling confident and ready to show me what a goddess they are!
