Shelby Bell Photography - Arizona Lifestyle Portrait Photography

Hi There! I'm Shelby, the owner of Shelby Bell Photography of Gilbert, AZ. I am honored to be writing a post for Basic Invite, as they have the sweetest stationary and adorable fonts! I have been photographing since high school, but did not start doing sessions until 2011 after graduating high school. I photograph anything from seniors to families, but my favorites are usually single portraits. I love being able to connect one-on-one with someone, making them see themselves as beautiful as they should. My favorite thing about photography is not only that, but turning clients into friends.

Recently, I have made it a point to be more creatively inclined. I am sure in any profession, you get into a rut where you don't feel like you're progressing... doing the same thing over and over. So I decided to do something about it! I have been networking more in my community, taking part in meeting new creatives, and bouncing ideas.

It's incredibly hard to choose a favorite session, so I am going to share a recent favorite! I usually photograph in nature, but I have been leaving my comfort zone, so bring on the urbanscape!

This was my first time at Tempe Center of Arts, and I must say I fell in love. It is so diverse. I only photographed in and out of this building, but there is also Tempe Town Lake (lots of water and a few bridges that I will definitely utilize next time). The diversity makes it so easy to photograph.

I generally try to be a candid photographer. I love capturing real moments and genuine expressions. In my recent work with models, it has been fun to see them work and flow pose. Since I'm not big on vocally posing (just tweaking), this has been awesome.

My style is usually a little moody, and matte, but I have found a new love for clear and crisp.

I love close ups, wide apertures, and so much emotion.

I love my clients, and how unique each and every one of their sessions are. It is are honor to work with everyone I have been lucky enough to meet on my journey thus far. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
