Hey y’all! My name is Melissa and I’m the owner of Melissa R Berry Photography in Huntsville, Alabama. I’ve been shooting professionally for about two years, but photography has always been a passion of mine. That passion for photography together with a B.S. in Marketing and a love of people make for a perfect combination.

Most of my photographs are captured with natural lighting, but I also do some off camera flash, depending on conditions and how dramatic I want the picture to turn out. I guess my style would probably be considered artsy. Most of my business comes from high school seniors and they are always up for something different and fun. And fun is the selling point of my sessions! If there’s one thing high school seniors tell their friends about me, it’s that I make the session fun – something I’m very proud of!

My favorite session has to be a prom session I recently completed with two of my senior model representatives. What was great about this session is that rather than head to the same location as about 98% of their high school friends, we headed to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens where we had the park practically to ourselves. Everything was in bloom, the park was empty, and there were enough clouds in the sky that I didn’t have to worry about shying away from direct light or shadows.

The five kids in this group are all childhood friends. There was no pressure for romantic pictures of couples; just a bunch of kids having fun with each other like they always do. Some of the best shots came (and seem to always come) at a time when I’m telling them I’m just taking a test shot. I get the most natural, and usually the most hilarious poses out of them.

Soon I’ll have a new senior class to photograph, but I have so enjoyed the Class of 2016! They will soon be on to bigger and brighter things in their lives, and I’m just happy that I got to be a small part of their senior year.
