Maui Adventures | Lucas Moore Photography

About Me:

Aloha friends! My name is Lucas Moore, I am a portrait and landscape photographer living on the amazing island of Maui. I moved to Maui in the beginning of this year from Virginia where I grew up and started learning photography at the age of 20.

Island Life:

Having a photography business here on an island is such an interesting experience unlike anywhere else. People come from all over the world to visit and have photos taken of them to remember their time here. It is a thrilling, humbling, and overwhelming experience all at the same time to be able to capture memories of what some may call “the trip of a lifetime.” And I believe Maui is the perfect place for it since there is such a variety in the beauty of the island. Most would only think sunshine, clear blue waters and white sand, which of course there is and that’s gorgeous, but there is so much more to the island like mountains, and forests, and rocky cliffs. One of my favorite photoshoots I have gotten to do on Maui is a perfect example of this.

The Shoot:

I was staying with some friends on Maui last fall and mentioned to them that I wanted to do a photoshoot with them which they were stoked about! There wasn’t a lot of free time during my stay, but it worked out that we all had one evening free together and decided to do the shoot. We were on our way to a spot called Turtle Bay and the weather wasn’t looking great during the drive. I got a little nervous, but we were all hoping for the best and were going to just go along with whatever happened. We got there and immediately had to hop a fence and walk through a big cow pasture to get over to where the cliffs were. So we started out and took some shots from the field and then made our way down to the rocks. It was going great, and these two were so comfortable and cute together; I couldn’t have asked for a better couple.

A little way in, it started getting a little cloudier and then started to drizzle. We looked at one another and said, “Oh well let’s just keep going.”  That drizzle slowly started turning to an actual rain which we ignored by continuing shooting and before we knew it, it is was pouring. At this point we grabbed everything and booked it back up the rocks and through the field full of cows (but of course having to stop for a few last photos) before we made it back to the car drenched and adrenaline filled.

I think the photos themselves tell the day the best.
