Montana de Oro Engagement Session

One of California's secret treasures is the stunning Montana de Oro. This park features rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. Naturalists and backpackers enjoy the solitude and freedom found along the park's trails. There are also mountain biking and equestrian trails. The best-known beach is Spooner's Cove, across from the campground. The park's name, "Mountain of Gold," comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring. Wildlife in the park includes black tailed deer and the black oyster catcher. The park includes primitive and equestrian campsites. Across from the beach, guests may spot an old ranch house. This is a remnant of a dairy farm run by the Pecho family in the late 1800s. It is hard to believe there is no entry fee to enter the park and there is something to do for everyone in the family.

Montana de Oro was the perfect location for Katie and Tony's romantic, winter photo session. With very little traffic in the park, we explored the grounds with ease, finding stunning views and really cool trees. Please enjoy the places we found for portraits.
