  • Nicholas Horton Photography | West Coast Wedding Photographer

Hello, my name is Nicholas Horton and I am a wedding photographer based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. In my twelve years of photographing portraits, I’ve transformed from a photographer who didn’t love weddings and engagements to one that raves about them. Why? I realized that photography doesn’t live in a box. Weddings today can consist of two people, or two hundred. They can be adventurous, fashionable, deeply personal, and most importantly - a lot of fun.

    Saaty Photography: Downtown Flagstaff Wedding

A selection of images from Katherine and Chris’s Flagstaff Wedding. The ceremony was held at the gorgeous Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel in the heart of downtown.  Many of their family and friends were able to be involved in the special ceremony.

The reception was held at Hotel Weatherford. I absolutely love shooting at both of these venues. The ceremony was intimate and the church was gorgeous. The whole day had a vintage feel to it – one of my favorite types of weddings. The winter weather was absolutely perfect. It was warm and sunny the whole day! I had a great time exploring the Downtown Flagstaff area with the newly weds. We were able to utilize the colorful walls and unique Flagstaff scenery in the images. Congratulations to Kate and Chris!

I’ve been playing with cameras since I was a little girl. I used to steal my mom’s camera and use entire rolls of film to photograph my Barbies and stuffed animals. My mom wasn’t thrilled then, but looking back on it now, it explains where my life-long obsession began. I’ve owned cameras since I was a child, mostly automatic film and instant models, but it wasn’t until high school that I really started exploring the endless photographic possibilities. Since then, my camera hasn’t left my side.

My passion for the field expanded while attending Northern Arizona University, where I studied Commercial Photography and Design. My favorite thing about photography is that it encourages me to look beyond what others define as ‘beautiful’, and has taught me to see beauty in everything. It’s my life that is truly beautiful; my camera simply allows me to share it with the world.

Hi, I'm Ryan. I make photos.

And I love music. I spent more than a decade living in New York City making my living playing music. All kinds. I’m a good improviser. Making photos is a lot like playing music. Assess the situation, react, interact. It’s thinking on your feet.

When I picked up a camera for the first time I quickly felt like making pictures was the thing I should have been doing my whole life. I do a lot of it now. I like photos with people in them. People are unpredictable. That’s why they’re interesting.Christine and Bryce got married in Page Springs south of Sedona amid family and friends in what was a really beautiful and laid back affair. That’s the kind of people they are – easy going. And looming storm clouds didn’t change that at all. But worrying wouldn’t have done any good anyway. It never really does, right? As it turned out, the rain held off until the party was over. And it was a great party. I love a wedding where stress doesn’t ever enter the equation. It’s all about love and commitment people!

Weddings are amazing. Super fun. I often end up dancing my way through reception photos. I really like collaborating with the couples I work with to make artistic images that tell the story of their wedding day. I shoot pictures for newspapers and I like working in a documentary style. When it comes to making portraits, I like to pull out some lights for a little drama.

My favorite photos tell a story. Your wedding day is the culmination of part one of your story as a couple. And it’s the beginning of a new chapter in part two. It’s an emotional story. One that needs to be documented with care. I’ve got a handle on that.

My job is really fun. My enthusiasm and easy going nature make folks on the other side of my lens feel really, really comfortable. Working with your photographer should be fun. Sure, you might not be a professional model and you might not feel like you know how to pose. You might even be a little nervous about taking photos. But it’s my job to make you feel at ease. And have a good time!
