AN AFTERNOON SPENT WITH AN AMAZING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR

    DSC_0114-Edit

The air of excitement in photographing a high school senior is always contagious.   The hope in their eyes, the smile on their face & confidence in their stance is unmistakable.  They have achieved so much in the last 4 years.  This is their time to shine.

I love celebrating them, just as they are.  I encourage all of my high school clients to wear what they love, what they feel most comfortable in.  I encourage them to dress up, dress down, bring accessories or keep it simple.  I ENCOURAGE THEM TO BE THEMSELVES

When scheduling a senior session, I talk with my clients about some of their "favorite things."  We discuss their favorite styles, places, hobbies, etc.  This allows me to customize their sessions around who they really are.  I feel this is a very important aspect in helping them feel comfortable in their own skin.  AFTER ALL, THEY HAVE EARNED IT.

During the photo session, I make it a priority for my clients to feel comfortable & most importantly to have fun!  My sessions are real, honest & filled with laughter.  During a typical session, you can catch me running around, climbing up on things, laying on the ground & doing whatever I can to put my clients at ease while achieving those custom shots to ensure that their photos are truly unique, just as they are.

I feel that the senior year of high school is a life experience to be remembered & treasured.

One of the main reasons I am so passionate about ensuring each senior session is unique is so when they look back on their senior photos they are reminded of exactly who they were at that particular time in their lives; evoking wonderful memories to be shared with others.

As a child, I remember looking at photographs with my grandparents and feeling their emotions as they shared special photographs of their younger years.  I feel those are timeless memories that should be treasured.  I feel that through photographs amazing stories can be  remembered & retold.

I am honored to have been asked by Basic Invite to write a blog about a recent session.  Thank you for taking the time to read AN AFTERNOON SPENT WITH AN AMAZING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR.  I am passionate about my career in photography & I am grateful for the opportunity to share the stories of peoples' treasured memories through my photographs.

    Free Money Envelope Printable

This free money envelope printable is perfect to bail you out of your procrastination!  Everyone loves to give out gift cards, but lets be real for a second, cash is better than a gift card in almost every way.  It spends everywhere, has zero expirations, and you can't forget to write how much its worth on it!  So the one thing possibly, that a gift card has over cash is the purported "thought and effort was put into it" excuse.  But, hear me out - you can buy gift cards just about everywhere; with about the same amount of effort the purchase of a candy bar requires.  Standing in checkout, "Oh, hey didn't we need to get a gift card for Dad?".  Yep - don't lie, you've all been there.  As a father myself, I'm qualified to say you might want to just stick with the candy bar.  I don't need another thing to carry in my wallet - unless it's cash. I only accept hundreds. You know - to keep the thickness of my wallet down.

Throw in the effort required to hand-make the envelope that holds your precious gift of cash, and you have a dead ringer.  This combination trumps a gift card every day through Sunday.

Cut it out.  I prefer to use a kraft knife and a cutting board, but scissors would work equally well on this project.

If you're a perfectionist, give this free money envelope printable a good hand score.  I like this little Martha Stewart board and bone folder, found at most major craft stores.

IMG_1977IMG_1978Fold the outer triangle flaps first, followed by the bottom flap.

    IMG_1981

Little double sided tape, or a glue dot works well for a quick seal.

Stuff it with some cash.  More than what we show here.

Little tape on the point of the flap works great here too.

  • Holiday Gift Tag Printables

The holidays are upon us!  We thought it would be fitting to provide fun gift tag printables.  They should be the perfect addition to your perfectly packaged gifts this season. We've provided some photos of some of the recommended materials to turn these little tags into something that wow's! You may download them here (it will add to cart, where you may create a free account quickly and download for free).  These gift tag printables print on a regular sheet of paper on your home printer.  We just ask that you use them for personal use only.  Thanks!

Print out the gift tags and cut out using the dashed guides with scissors or a craft knife.  We found scissors to work well, but if you're speedy with a craft knife you might be able to move a little quicker.

    IMG_1937

Cut out the holes in the printables with a hole punch or a craft knife.

Choose your twine, we love the paper twine look.  For this project we purchased the twine from our local craft store (Michaels).  They had a bunch of fun colors.  The paper twine works really well as you can shape it and easily run it through the holes.

Write the names on them as you go.
