My portraits dance in the gray area between posed and candid photographs. I've developed a unique structure to my family portrait sessions. I like to jump between the role of director and silent follower. I encourage the family to interact and explore the location. The little ones help make choices. I frequently showcase how my equipment works. (The preschooler in these photographs even used my camera to take a few wildly out of focus shots.) My clients walk away from me with a better understanding of the art of photography. Typically they already considering what options they have for future photographs together as we are wrapping up the session. We create the portraits together. My most recent family photography session is a perfect example of my personal style.
