    My Story

Hi there! My name is Crystal Allen, I'm a natural light wedding photographer based in Southern Indiana serving the Greater Louisville area. I spent 2 years in front of the camera doing small modeling jobs here and there right out of high school and realized, at a whole 5foot2inches, modeling wasn't really going to go anywhere big for me.

After I was married, a photographer I'd previously shot with asked me to do another shoot with him in my wedding gown in exchange for a camera. He followed through and I was the proud owner of a Canon 20D (which was like gold to me at the time!). An instant love was found and so, my story behind the camera begins. In 2009 I did one mentor session with that photographer (who is, sadly, no longer shooting) and hit the ground running.2

    My Why

Photography is so much more than just 'capturing memories' to me. Dementia has made an appearance in my family. My grandmother has been fully affected by this disease and my uncle, at age 62, is now battling dementia as well. My memory has always been fleeting and I have very few memories from my early adult life. That terrifies me. But photographs... Through photographs I can remember. And so my entire reason for shooting. The memories, The moments, The feelings, The emotions. While they are so fleeting, with this camera I'm able to memorialize every little detail. The tiny curls, the father's tears, the wide-eyed innocent smiles, the pristine white dress. With this camera nothing is forgotten.

This gorgeous wedding was on June 25, 2016 and you'd think it would've been scorching... well, it was! But regardless of the relentless heat, Justin & Andrea  were the perfect bride/groom duo at the perfect, private venue on what ended up being the perfect day. This is their wedding story Justin & Andrea's love for each other is the most prominent thing that stood out about their wedding... But without these images, what might be forgotten? The details? The look on his face during the First Look? The way the sun fell that day? Invest time into finding a wedding photographer for your big day that is enthusiastic about helping you remember everything about your wedding, through images, for the rest of your life.

    xoxo Crystal

Hey, Guys! I'm Catherine Kunkel, the girl behind the lens at Catherine K. Photography. I create (mostly) natural light photos for clients in Louisville, Kentucky as well as the Northern Kentucky area and Cincinnati, Ohio. My sessions range from engagements and weddings, to seniors and families.

While I love them all, my favorite sessions to shoot have to be engagements. There's just something so awesome about being able to document two people in love, about to embark on a huge journey together.

I'm a self-taught photographer, and my story is similar to many other self-taught photogs; what was initially just a hobby quickly grew into something more as I continued to learn and enjoy the art of picture-making.

It began with me chasing my toddlers around the house with my entry level DSLR. I'd then post the photos to my personal facebook page, and slowly friends started asking if I could take some pictures of THEIR toddlers. Towards the end of 2012, I decided to create a business page on facebook (which I stared at for a month before I had enough courage to publish it), and things just went from there!

At first I thought I wanted to shoot very stylized sessions (think cute costumes and little props everywhere). But then I realized that the photos I truly enjoyed capturing were those in which the subjects looked relaxed and natural, in a much more organic atmosphere. I decided that I wanted to create photos with a classic look, that would still evoke the same feelings twenty years from now as they did when they were taken. These photos from Alice and Garrett's session are some of my favorites because I feel they do exactly that.

I've known Alice since we were both in middle school, so that made this session a pretty special one to capture. That evening was the first time I had met Garrett, but I saw immediately that he was a perfect fit for Alice. They were so comfortable together, and that really comes through the photos.

Another thing I love about this session is Alice and Garrett's relaxed style. Alice's simple gold and silver accessories pair perfectly with the laid-backed feel of their photos. Combine that with the soft evening light and beautiful scenery, and you just can't go wrong!

Even after almost four years, I still experience plenty of moments of self-doubt and LOTS of trial and error. This session for my childhood friend, however, will always be one that I love and feel perfectly captures what I want my photos to look like.

  • BellaVieve Photography | Kentucky Based Photographer

Hey guys! I'm Bobbi Nannery of BellaVieve Photography! I am a professional photographer out of Bardstown, Kentucky. My main specialty is children and families, weddings are fun, but nothing beats photographing a fantastic kid or family. I cant even remember when i started taking pictures, because i was very little. With disposable camera in hand I would ride around on the farm with my grandparents taking images of the sky and landscape. As I reached high school I moved to wildlife photography, which I took with me to college where my study was Wildlife Management, but my passion for photography was strong, so in 2009 I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Photography. I took photos of wildlife for private collectors, where my work has been seen around  the world. After college I began getting clients for weddings, events, theater and everything under the sun! During this time I became a product photographer for 2 major online retailers, for 5 years I took images of products for people to buy, more than likely you've bought something that I photographed. My passion quickly grew stronger and I left my full-time gig as a product photographer and went for my dream! My daughter, who is almost 5 is my main model, and lets me experiment shoot ideas on her. She is a trooper, a sassy trooper.

My favorite shoot so far with children is a most recent one, which I've been experimenting with my mirriorless Sony a7. The quality of that camera is amazing, put it together with an awesome kid and boom, you get a soft, fairy tale-ish image. The lighting during this shoot was amazing, it was sunset during a warm day in May. The planets aligned for the feeling I was trying to convey.

Kids are honest and silly, and if they're having a bad day, they're going to let you know. This still doesn't stop me from getting them to have a good time, patience is something you have to have when photographing kids. These images of Bebe are a perfect example, she was feeling quite goofy, and I captured that perfectly.

With my fine art background in photography, I like to try to tell a story through my images, and keep that fine art feel to them.

Even when photographing children, I still try to capture the small details. Such as the flowers on this crown, and just changing up my positioning. I'm often all over the place, laying on the ground, up high, i like to move around.

Kids are only kids for a short time. As I watch my baby grow, it makes me realize how little time we actually get to be kids, which fuels my drive to capture the innocence of  them. Let them be little, let them play, let them learn and experience life.
