Our journey with wedding & portrait photography began with a beaten up film camera waiting to be used again. We fell in love with the art of photography and with each other on the backwoods trails of Canada, surrounded by the nature that inspired us to slow down and take a deeper look at the fine details in life.
This evolved into taking photographs of people, new places, and then more subtly, into capturing moments. Our work has taught us to savour the candid moments, and if we're lucky, freeze them in time forever.
Recently, we took a trip to the beach just outside Toronto with our dear friends Jess and Khal to celebrate their engagement. Adventurous by nature, Jess suggested we go to the Scarborough Bluffs to see the sunrise.
Magic was all around us – in the pink globular sun that rose perfectly across the horizon, in the soft pastel sky reflected in a lake that stretches like an ocean, and in the eyes of two souls destined to be together.
This photo shoot is near and dear to us not only because Jess and Khal are two very close friends, who in fact introduced us to each other in the first place, but because it exemplifies what we love so much about this work; seeing the beauty in every moment. As photographers we enjoy taking a step back and allowing the moment to reveal itself. We also love adding to the dreamy scene with unique details that suit each individual.
As we were walking back from the beach, Jess had been telling us how ladybugs were always a good sign for her and Khal – always guiding their path. Not long after, we spotted an intriguing looking piece of driftwood that caught our attention. We soon discovered hundreds of ladybugs traversing the log. We’d say that is a good sign!
