Simple Elegance at Meadow Brook Hall

Meadow Brook Hall is the historic home built by one of the automotive aristocracy’s most remarkable women, Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred Wilson. Constructed between 1926 and 1929, for $4 million, Meadow Brook Hall represents one of the finest examples of Tudor-revival architecture in America.

Constructed in the Great Gatsby era, Meadow Brook Hall is often called an "American Castle" -- perfect for fairytale weddings! This historic mansion can play any part in your dream wedding, whether it's a vintage-themed celebration or classic, romantic wedding.

Wedding season kicked off with a bang here at Meadow Brook Hall as we watched Maggie & Kevin tie the knot on June 2nd. The elegant yet simple affair brought over 200 of their friends and family members together to celebrate this beautiful couple as they said “I do”. They had the perfect weather – 73 degrees and partly cloudy!

The couple had their ceremony in the Rock Garden on the west side of the home, with guests facing the arched doorway – I have to say, this is my FAVORITE ceremony spot here at MBH.

The bride was dressed in a stunning Vera Wang gown made of white crêpe, surrounded by her bridesmaids who wore floor length navy blue dresses.

The reception in the Garden Tent featured a color palette of white and champagne with fresh, organic florals by J. Costello Designs. The wedding party dined at a wooden farm table while guests were seated at both round and long tables adorned with champagne matte satin linens and farm house chairs, all supplied by LUXE Event Linen. The finishing touch of décor was string lighting provided by the groom’s uncle and his company, Christmas Light Company.

Guests enjoyed appetizers on the Loggia Terrace during cocktail hour, followed by a custom dinner menu of Michigan chicken breast roulade with spinach, dried cherries, and goat cheese made by Meadow Brook Hall’s Executive Chef. For dessert, the bride’s cousin created a beautiful and delicious four-tier chocolate cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream.

After dancing the night away to music from E3 Detroit, partygoers enjoyed butler-passed sliders for their late night nosh. The couple also provided pashminas for the ladies as the evening cooled down – no detail was forgotten!
