Hey y'all! My name is Rachel and I'm a photographer in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. I've loved photography and capturing special moments ever since I was a teenager, but I started pursuing my passion for photography about a year ago. Right around the time my now husband, Andrew, and I had our engagement photos taken and our wedding was quickly approaching, I realized, "Hey! *I* want to take these kinds of photos for people!" And so it began :-)
I photographed a few events for friends and family here and there, but the first "real" photo session I did was engagement photos for one of my best friends. It was so much fun! We wandered around a lake near their house that they love and captured so many sweet moments. The groom-to-be even got poison ivy from venturing through some "pretty, green areas"! But if the photo turned out beautifully, that means it was worth it, right?! ;-) I loved the photos, and more importantly, so did Danielle and Phil! After giving them their photos and hearing how much they loved them, I was hooked...
I've done family photos, maternity photos, newborn photos, boudoir photos, and wedding photos, but couples and engagement photos are still my favorite (although wedding is quickly catching up)! I guess I just love love and capturing that sparkle between couples in love <3
There's something I love about each photo session or event I've done, but one of the more recent couples shoots I did is definitely up there on my "favorites" list. Meg and Jon recently celebrated their 5-year wedding anniversary and wanted to have photos to commemorate the occasion. I'm so glad they hired me to take their photos! They're such a fun couple, plus they're friendly, kind, and beautiful (beautiful people = make taking beautiful photos easy!).
I chatted with Meg a few times through email and we decided on a date and location to take their photos. They chose the gorgeous location of Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland - it has so many great spots for photos! Meg seemed like a sweetheart online, and she was even more sweet in person. Jon seemed a little more quiet or shy (c'mon, most guys aren't too keen on having their photo taken in the first place!), but Meg was able to make him laugh, so he warmed up to the situation. Plus, he went to Penn State (like me!), so he's awesome in my book based on that alone :-)
Meg and Jon really compliment each other and are a great couple; it's very apparent how in love with each other. My favorite photos of them are the candid moments capturing them laughing and talking together. There is so much happiness and love between them! A couple that smiles and laughs that much together will last a long, long time :-)
Happy 5-year anniversary, Meg and Jon!
