Meaningful Moments by Flightless Bird Photography

Real art makes you feel something. As a child, I loved tinkering with my great-grandma’s old polaroid camera. I love looking back at those very early images in my photography career (I’m talking age 4!) and reliving those moments. When I look at one of those old yellow-tinted photos, I’m a child again – just for a moment.

Now that I’m a grown up wedding photographer, nothing is more important to me than giving my couples beautiful, genuine images that speak to their heart, bring them back to a moment in time, and invoke emotion.

John Keats said it best with “beauty is truth, truth beauty.” While I take pride in giving my clients stunning images to show their grandchildren someday, my efforts mean nothing if I’m not capturing raw, memorable moments. This same truth isn’t only important for photography; it extends to every aspect of wedding planning.

When you’re brainstorming ideas for flowers, music, food, or whatever else, think about standout moments in your relationship rather than just going with what’s trendy this year.

What kind of flowers did he give you on your first date? What are your favorite desserts? What’s “your song,” and what music did you both grow up listening to?

Basing your wedding off of the answers to these questions will create a custom wedding with you two written all over it, and that will make your day that much more memorable.

In terms of wedding invitations, the same philosophy applies. Go with something that represents you two and your relationship, not just a cookie cutter set of invitations you could pick up at any craft store.

That’s where Basic Invite comes in. The name “Basic Invite” doesn’t exactly speak to their website. While it is basic in that the site is easy to use, the options are ENDLESS. Virtually any couple can customize a set of wedding invitations that are true to them and their relationship without having to face the price tag of a custom designer. It’s really a no brainer.

If you’ve made it this far, I want to thank you for letting me step up on my soapbox. When it comes down to it, the simple truth I want you to take away from this little blog post is this:

Regardless of who you choose to photograph your wedding or which invitation you end up sending to your guests, your day should reflect what’s most important – and that’s your love story.
