Hi everyone! I’m Lindsey, the girl behind the lens of Lindsey Marie Photography in small-town Nappanee, Indiana. Growing up, I was always fascinated with photography- the beauty & creativity of it, but more than that- being able to capture a split-second of life, having a single photo that can bring a moment to life again & tell a story.
It wasn’t until late high school/early college that I started to dabble in photography. I placed friends in front of the camera, installed Photoshop on my laptop, & spent countless hours exploring all the tools & magic it had to offer. In late 2010, after posting an album online of merely hobby photography, I received a message from an old friend asking if I would be interested in taking her engagement pictures. My response was something to the effect of: “Umm, YESSS!” I finally had a reason to buy my first "big girl" camera & loved every second of capturing two people in love. Ever since that day, by word of mouth & sharing my work online, my hobby grew into a business. While I had a few sessions here & there & a part-time job, I finished college obtaining a degree in graphic design. However, I began to realize where my true passion lied, & that was in photography.
In 2012, I quit my job & leaped into life as a full-time photographer. I’m so thankful God created in me a passion for photography. I know some people aren’t wired to be a “9-5'er”, & let me tell you, that’s me. While being your own boss still comes with it’s challenges, I absolutely love the freedom of making my own schedule & being able to create the work I want to create. There are rules of photography, but then there are reasons to break them. I think it’s easy as a photographer to get caught up in what you “should” be doing & comparing yourself to others. I love that I can be true to my own style, & someone will hire me for that very thing that may set my work apart. I tend to be most intrigued by photos that have a nostalgic feel, & I think that translates into my photography style. I am also a true believer in candid photos being the best kinds. That’s when I feel I’ve done my best, when I’ve captured someone’s true personality or feelings in that moment. It may feel small then, but looking back on it, you’ll be so thankful to have that image that takes you back. That’s why it’s so important to me to create a laid-back atmosphere & make clients feel comfortable enough to be real, to be vulnerable. That also might be why this wedding day was one of my absolute favorites to shoot. Bursting with unapologetic love & happiness. I dare you not to cry at this father/daughter first look!
It was such an honor to be apart of this day. Both families so sweet, with a bride & groom so clearly meant for each other. It was nothing short of a fairytale.
