Hello! I’m Krystal Craven, the owner of Krystal Craven Photography. Like many photographers, photography started as a hobby for me many years ago. After a while, friends and acquaintances began to inquire if they could hire me to take their family portraits and that was when I took the plunge into photography as a business in 2014. In the photography world, I am still considered a newbie, but I have learned so much over the last couple years and continue to learn and grow in my photography skills so that I can offer my best quality to my clients.

Before I started in photography, I went to college and got my bachelors in education and got my teaching credential. I ended up stepping outside of the classroom to homeschool my children, which has been the hardest but most rewarding experience as a teacher and mother. I now currently homeschool, am involved in ministry at our church, and run Krystal Craven Photography so my organization skills have definitely been put to the test these last couple years and by the grace of God have prevailed successfully.

I have experience in portrait sessions such as seniors, family, children, newborn, maternity, headshots, you name it and also in weddings and events. Once I relocated to the San Francisco East Bay from Southern California in 2015, I decided to focus on portrait photography and now specialize in seniors, family, children, and headshots.

This session in particular is one of my favorite senior portrait sessions because this young lady’s mother told me how shy she was and that having her best friend move out of state recently had been hard on her. One of the most important things to me in my client sessions is the experience I provide my clients as well as quality photographs. I started off the session getting to know this gorgeous young woman and found out she also has a growing interest in photography. She isn’t a huge sports fan, but really enjoys learning and has many aspirations for such a young woman her age. As I started snapping photos, she was unsure of how to stand and where to look so as we joked around she really began to loosen up and come out of her shell. I was amazed at how modelesque she became. It truly was like watching a butterfly come out of their cocoon. When we reviewed the photos with her parents, it was so rewarding to see the smile and joy come to their faces as they saw the photos.
