The start of a photography journey
For as long as I can remember, I always knew I wanted to be a photographer. From toy cameras to taking all of my family members cameras any time I could, I would be taking photographs.
When it came time to really buckle down and start thinking about my future, photography seemed like the only option for me. I was hand down, in love with the idea of taking photographs for the rest of my life.
My education & then into business
I went on to photography classes in high school to then graduating with a degree in Photojournalism from Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana. After graduation, I moved to Bloomington, Indiana (home of the Indiana University Hoosiers) and decided to start my own photography business, Kaytee Lorentzen Photography in October 2015 and started my website kayteelorentzen.org.
My business focuses on lifestyle and portrait photography. Not only do I love to take traditional photos, but I also love the candid lifestyle types of sessions. I work with high school seniors, businesses, couples, families, and anyone in need of portraits.
I chose to focus more on lifestyle because it integrates portraits with photojournalism. It is the best of both worlds for me.
A featured session
My favorite session to date would have to be of a senior from Edinburgh High School, Baileigh. She is a dancer and a cheerleader. She would love to be a nurse when she grows up.
My favorite thing about seniors is that this is one of the most important parts of their lives where they are about to leave everything they know behind and go off into the real world and make memories and experiences for themselves.
This was one of my favorite sessions because she was up for just about anything. It was her idea to go in the water at the beginning of the session and I was so happy she just wanted to make the session her own.
