Katharine Bentz Photography | New Orleans Children's Photographer

My photography journey started in 2004. Ever since I have been a photographer serving my clients in the greater New Orleans. My heart lies in capturing children's personalities and their interactions with their siblings and parents. I prefer to not put too much emphasis on posing or props. I hope that in 20 years, my clients will be able to look over their photographs and see their children exactly as they are now.

The Joy of Family Photography

My feeling is, the most special part of what I do is watching children grow year after year.  To photograph a new mom and dad holding their newborn infant, and then to see that child go through all the phases of childhood, is something sacred and beautiful. For families that come to me year after year, I have built a special connection with that family. Certainly, this allows me to photograph them in a unique way!

This beautiful family met me very early, which is often necessary here in the deep south! We met to take portraits of their newly blended family in the wildflower field outside City Park.

This is a special time because these flowers only bloom for about a month in the spring!

I love the way flowers create a repeating background of color. The speckles of pink, purple, and white look so striking against the green grass!

I also find flowers a great way for little ones to relax in front of the camera. They love picking them and smelling them, which makes for some great natural shots!

So, let me not forget their adorable little pup who had a matching bowtie of his own!

Finally, their smiles say it all: a loving family on a beautiful day in a beautiful location. What more could this photographer ask for?
