My name is Julia Hinton, and I am a wedding and family photographer based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. As someone who has always had a busy schedule, I often wish that time would just stand still. That’s why I love photography; a photograph can make a certain moment last for a lifetime. My goal with the session featured below was to do just that; to give Catherine the chance to stop time and to remember the wonderful memories she made with her daughters while on vacation in Yosemite National Park.
Like myself, Catherine grew up spending a week each summer in Yosemite National Park. She has carried on the tradition with her two daughters, and this past summer I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with them in the park (which I am so grateful for- that place is a dream!)
Because this time is very special for the family, I wanted to capture very real moments that would accompany really great memories. I asked Zoe to hold her mom’s hand as they walked so Catherine could remember the countless times that they walked hand-in-hand through the park.
I encouraged natural interaction between the girls because it would give them an opportunity to create some more memories- and because you can’t expect a three year old and her baby sister to sit still for an hour long portrait session ;)
The lighting was perfect, and the scenery had the perfect balance of simplicity and beauty. We couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop then we had. Yosemite is an absolute dream to shoot in, and I was thrilled to provide the beautiful Scott girls with pictures to remember their annual vacation by :)
