Hi! I am Jamie of Jamie Buckley Photography and I am a portrait photographer based out of Seattle, Washington. I'm coming up on two years of doing photography as a paid job, before that it was a seven year hobby. I primarily shoot families but I also do engagements and weddings. My style of photography is candid, I want genuine emotion and laughter in my images so that when a family looks at their photos in years to come they'll remember it as a great day and not that a photographer made them sit in uncomfortable poses!
I've lived in Seattle for just over a year now (I moved here from Glasgow, Scotland) and the Pacific Northwest is one of the best backdrops in the world, which is why the majority of my shoots are on location. You'd think that wouldn't be feasible given how much it rains here but I'll let you in on a secret: it doesn't rain that much here!
Case in point: one of my favorite photoshoots was in late October of last year, we were outdoors in light clothes until almost 8pm. Carkeek Park, just north of Seattle is one of my favorite locations because it has a tremendous amount of variety for backgrounds. There's a forest, a beach, a boardwalk, a park area and a tree tunnel.
The shoot in question was an engagement shoot, with a mini family shoot built in as their daughter came along too. We had such a fun time just wandering around the park capturing some memorable moments. After the session the couple contacted me to say they'd had a great experience and that I'd put them completely at ease.
This is obviously an amazing thing to hear from a client and what I strive to do for each and every client. I want the clients to have an experience that is fun and friendly, like you’re out shooting with a friend.
