A life lived full of inspiring moments, embraced with a passion for seeing the world as a beautiful opportunity.
Hola, I'm Krystal, owner of Fly Free Photography. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, art has always been a part of my life that I’ve embraced, and at the age of 20 I found myself realizing a new outlet for my creative expression. A journey of ups and downs filled with blood, sweat, tears and laughter has molded who I can proudly say I am today.
A loving smile from a bride as she walks down the aisle to the joy filled eyes of the groom is what energizes me, what keeps me so passionate about the work I do. Every moment is filled with so much love and joy, that most people don’t see, I simply strive to open one’s eyes to this truth. With humble beginnings I learned to embrace opportunity and follow my heart, which is how I found myself pursuing my passion of photography and building it into the business that I love today.
Leading up to a wedding, a nervous flutter is in the air; From this comes a great release of my creativity, an emotion that allows me to bring in a sensitive understanding of how critical and special every moment is for both the couple and family involved. From each tear of joy, nervous laugh, tremble of one’s hand or smile of a child, the inspiration becomes even more captivating. I feel so much love in these moments, which is why I feel so blessed to be a part of the day to capture these beautiful memories. From the wind in the trees to the scent of a candle, I allow my photos to grasp as much of this adventure as possible without letting a sense of mystery fade away from the story of the couple.
In September of 2015, I photographed a wedding that is near and dear to my heart. Before the wedding, a bold bride and I ventured out to the mountains for a stunning bridal shoot, which brought a new excitement to her feelings of her big day. As weeks past, I found myself waking up for a day that I would look back on as a great success. My natural light style helped me to capture such true colours from the beautiful venue, especially with a stunning sunset in store for the evening. This couple was so full of life, so free in their day that each photo proved to be as promising as the last.
There are moments where I take time to breath, find peace and spend time with myself. I find myself on adventures in many places where I can learn more about who I am, and this beautiful world we live in. This is where I grow a side of photography that involves my heart and nature’s open invite to explore. As the sun kisses my skin, river waters touch my fingertips and a breeze decides a butterfly’s new direction, I find my freedom.
If my images or words touch your heart, I'd love to hear from you!! Please feel free to contact me at any of the following.
