Susie Lacocque - Chicago Wedding Photographer

My love for photography started in a darkroom workshop in 7th grade and my main subjects were my cats and any other animal I could get to sit still long enough. Though I knew I had a love for photos, I also knew that society expects you to get a “real” degree if you want to be successful. I attended college in Southern California, and interned on Capitol Hill.

After I graduated, I knew I was ready for an adventure.

East Coast - check. West Coast - check. Midwest…?

Even though I had never been, I packed up my life into my car, my dog Milo riding shotgun, and we hit the road to Chicago.

After I arrived in my new home and had eaten more deep dish than any one person should, I had to get a job. I didn’t know what I wanted to pursue so I started a string of mediocre jobs, most of them unfulfilling and hostile. I knew something had to change.

So! I saved up a nest egg. I quit my job. My own little photography and design business was born.

I am beyond grateful that I get to do what I love and I adore being with my clients on one of the most special days of their lives.  I truly do see it as an honor.

Say HEYYY to your new third wheel!

Of course, wedding days are focused on the bride and groom, but another aspect of weddings I love is documenting all the other bits of magic throughout the day. I want to transport my couples back to their big day for decades to come.  I want them to relive that energy and have the same happy goosebumps prickling on their skin.  Without even knowing it, I want them to have a smile stretched across their faces seeing those sweet and joyful moments frozen in time.

Jen's father (father of the bride) was absolutely hysterical and delivered the most quintessential wedding toast. Their faces say it all.

What's a wedding without dessert?

Jen & Sean crafted such a lovely and genuine wedding day that I and their wedding guests will remember for a lifetime.

Every now and then I realize all over again how much I love my job and all my sweet couples who invite me into their lives.  I am beyond grateful that I get to do what I love. Let’s create something beautiful together.
