  • Dreams Come True in Camden, Tennessee

IMG_5770   I bought my first professional camera on October 3, 2014. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be where I am now, nearly 2 years later. In my little town of Camden, Tennessee, there’s an over-saturation of photographers, and they’re extremely talented- more talented than I ever thought I could be. I was (and still am) a full-time college student, working a full-time job, while juggling family and my relationship. I didn’t think I would have the time nor would I have a chance to become a ‘real’ photographer.

Now, I edit my pictures and get butterflies when I see the final results. My clients suggest me to their friends, family, and even strangers. I have a photography session nearly every day. I live in a dream.

I capture the love between a couple, the joy in a child’s smile, and the emotion of a bride before her wedding.

I give priceless memories to people in a form that they can save and cherish. I put my soul into my photography, and my heart into my editing- my final product is a piece of me that will live forever, along with that memory. Of all my sessions, my favorite would have to be my latest session with my best friend.

Lynsey and I have been unlikely friends for 7 years, with her being 6 years younger than I am (she’s currently 15 to my 21). She has helped me immensely with my photography. She’s always a willing model for my new techniques, a helper at any session she can make it to, and a second camera at weddings. She was the first person I ever took a picture of with a professional camera. She’s sat through endless sessions (and still does) to help me further my abilities behind the camera. When we first started, her self-confidence was low. She was worried about her looks, her weight, her braces. Over time, as I continued to improve behind the camera, she continued to improve in front of it. As I became capable to show her true beauty, she grew more confident in herself.IMG_5761-2 In our last session together, we tested out my new technique “Beautiful Sky”. Now a veteran at being my model, she hit the poses perfectly and gave me some amazing pictures to use for my advertising. Everyone loved them. They commented on the beauty of the picture and of her. IMG_5856IMG_5942Today, she is far from lacking in confidence. As her best friend, I can say that sometimes she can be too confident, but I’m proud to say I’ve had a major part in creating that issue. She has been instrumental in helping me, and I’m honored to be able to show her pictures for this.

I love my life as a photographer, and I’m grateful for my clients, family, and friends! Thank you for choosing me! I can’t even begin to say how honored I am to be selected to participate in this as well!

I've loved photography since the day I received my first camera. It was a Barbie Polaroid. I would go around at family events and snap as many photos as I could! Over the years I upgraded cameras as fast as technology allowed. I photographed nature (the Red River Gorge in Kentucky where I grew up made the perfect backdrop!) and I photographed friends and family.

My very first session with a couple was in the Spring of 2013. Two of my best friends from high school were engaged on Valentine's day of the same year and they asked me to do their "Save the Date" photos since they were comfortable with me and they were camera shy. It was an amazing first experience.

I officially started a professional business in January of 2015 and haven't looked back since! This is my passion. I love to immerse myself into my work and get to know each client personally in order to make their experience with me perfect!

I call myself a lifestyle/natural light photographer. I live for those candid, real, raw, emotional moments! That's why I love doing wedding photography, each passing moment of the day is a sum of hundreds of perfectly candid photo opportunities!IMG_1972IMG_2030IMG_2106IMG_2124

Each time I have a new session I claim that it's my favorite, so I will share with you my latest wedding. I am from a small town in Kentucky that no one has heard of so the opportunity to shoot a wedding in our biggest city of Louisville was a dream come true. I met with the bride early that morning to get some snapshots of her hair and makeup appointments that took place in her sister's beautiful home.

After the bridal party was all dolled up, we headed to the Cathedral style chapel in a hummer stretch limo. Which I believe is the best way to travel! I love getting to share in every moment of the day. Once we arrived to the church, the bride's other half was waiting under the arches for a first look at his true love. This was the first time a couple had requested a first look so I was over the moon!

From the windows overlooking the city, to the Kentucky Bourbon barrels placed perfectly around the room. The couple's family was amazingly hospitable and made me feel like I had known them for years! It was truly a magical day.

  • Catching Light Photography, Houston TX

We are Christa and Jennifer, two photographers who just happen to be best friends! After working together on and off for several years, we decided to launch Catching Light Photography in 2013. With our mutual love of photography and family, teaming up to document people in love just seemed natural.

We had the honor of photographing a beautiful winter wedding for Becky & Chris in League City, TX. We loved the elegant holiday feel, the gorgeous details put into the décor, and the charming Christmas trees provided by the venue. It truly just had that warm, comfortable holiday feeling to it, all while celebrating two stunning people in love.

Each table was adorned with detailed lanterns surrounded with a variety of lovely flowers, and the air was glowing with sparkling lights both inside and out. Throughout the evening guests visited the chocolate bar to grab a custom made jar of hot chocolate, and fill up on sweet treats and peppermints.

While we love all of our weddings, and we adore the originality of each, we particularly love this one because of how family oriented it felt. Becky and Chris made sure to include their two beautiful girls at every opportunity, as well as parents and siblings, which generously added to the holiday feel.

Our pictures speak volumes about our photographic style. We go into each session and wedding prepared to capture every detail of the love story; adoring smiles, silly giggles, long embraces, flowers and lace, rings and cake, and that very brief moment in time when a groom sees his bride for the first time. We blend lifestyle photography with traditional and artistic, using a photojournalism perspective.

Thank you to Becky and Chris for inviting us to be part of their special day, and many thanks to the Basic Invite Blog for allowing us to share these special memories!
