My name is Frank James. I am a wedding photographer from Huntsville, Alabama and with the help of my wife Samantha, we are James and Company Photography. Surely, you've heard the saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Well, thank all that is good and holy for that, because I need all the help I can get. Writing is just not in my skill set.
I got started in wedding photography 5 years ago just before my own engagement to my wife Samantha (The "Company" in James and Company Photography) as a way to document our lives just after college and just before marriage in our tiny apartment. This initial desire to participate, observe, and capture life as it happens is really where my style and vision originates. I have a saying on wedding days, "I won't tell you what to do but I will tell you where to do it."
I find that the work of a wedding photographer is all about how you see the world and then about your ability to transfer that vision into a photograph. After that, it's all about being able to put people at ease and in a position where they can look their best. My work reflects my personality. I like my photos to be bright, lively, and occasionally a little dramatic. We gravitate toward couples that share those same characteristics.
To be honest, I wouldn't venture so far as to ever call any one session or couple a "favorite" but this particular day with Kristyna and Bruce for their engagement is definitely a highlight. It has everything I want in a collection of photos. A cool, connected, and relaxed couple all underneath perfectly lit afternoon sky.
