Going Above and Beyond for the Perfect Shot

Cooper’s Photography was started over 20 years ago in Winston-Salem, NC.  During that time I had a strong interest in art using charcoal media to create portraits.  I used my camera to take photos of my subjects and then sketch them onto canvas.  An acquaintance that knew of my interest in photography asked me to photograph her wedding.  Even though I never photographed a wedding before, I researched the process and did a decent job.

Shortly after that, I started receiving more request for weddings and my interest in photography grew and eventually superseded my interest in charcoal art.

Over the years, I’ve familiarized myself with wedding and reception proceedings. This knowledge allows me to anticipate the next move and be in the proper place at the right time to capture all the special moments (i.e. preparation, bride walking into the chapel, exchanging rings, lighting unity candle, post ceremony portraits, and reception activates etc.).   Additionally, I provide studio, family, individual, and event photography services.  Also, for the past couple of years, I’ve been the chosen graduation photographer for Virginia College located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The photographs for this feature were chosen because I really liked the use of light and shadows.  The chapel had deep hallways and staircases which made it possible to capture nice silhouette shots. The couple was very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.

My goal is to exceed expectations on all levels. I mix traditional and candid photography with an artistic storybook style in order to produce a finished album that is stylish and very high in quality.

I use Adobe Photoshop in order to post-edit by whitening eyes and teeth, softening skin tones, and removing blemishes. To sum it up, photography in general is more than a business, it is a deep-rooted passion. I pride myself in going above and beyond to capture that perfect shot.   I enjoy the look on my brides and grooms faces when they first see their wedding album for the very first time.
