Hi there! My name is Emily Sacra, and I am a 20-year old wedding photographer based in beautiful Virginia. I have an incredibly wonderful and supportive family, and one 7 pound pup who always keeps me on my toes! Even though I live in Virginia, I am always ready to pack my bags and head to the next location - making sure to stop for donuts and iced coffee on the way of course ;)
I would describe my photography style as bright, clean, and natural. Bright, because I love to see those colors pop! Clean, because I'm a neat freak by nature and white/minimalism makes my heart sing. And Natural, because I want to deliver photos that looked just how they were when I was looking through my lens.
I always try to pose my couples in a way that gives very clear direction, but also leaves room for them to be themselves and feel natural!
I first picked up a camera when I was 12 years old, and I was instantly hooked! It all started as me just wanting to take pictures to post on my blog (yes, I had a blog when I was 12. Yes, reading those posts now is extremely embarrassing ;) , but over the years it grew into something more.
When I was 14, I knew that photographing weddings was what I wanted to do. There was something about being seeing a bride & groom together on their wedding day that drew me in and captured my attention!
Some local photographers took me (just a shy, 15-year old girl with a dream and a passion for weddings!) under their wing, and they were able to show me the fundamentals of photographing a wedding. I am a firm believer that you should never practice on someone's wedding day, so getting that experience prior to accepting my own weddings was very important to me.
Now I have been photographing weddings on my own for 3 years, and I feel so blessed to be doing what I love! I truly believe that no photographer ever stops learning, and that's one of the things I love most about my job!
I strive to capture genuine emotions in my photos, and deliver images that are consistent with their entire wedding day! Every detail is important to me, because I know the bride & groom have spent so much time and money making sure all those details are perfect.
I think the greatest thing about wedding photography is being able to capture a moment that would be otherwise forgotten. I love being able to preserve a memory forever, and deliver that to the couple.
There are so many wonderful parts to a wedding day, so it's almost impossible to choose a favorite! But the moment that tugs at my heartstrings the most would probably be when a couple chooses to see each other before the ceremony, and I get to see (and capture!) their feelings of love and excitement, and I can just feel the nerves melt away!
Thank you to Basic Invite for asking me to write this feature! If you are a bride looking for a wedding photographer, I would absolutely love to chat with you! There is lots of information on my website, and I can't wait to hear from you!
