Culpepper Lane Photography hometown engagement session

I have been interested in photography my whole life, but seven years ago, as my children started to get older, I decided it was time to turn my passion into my profession. I am based in Edmond, Oklahoma, but I grew up near the Outer Banks of North Carolina which is basically a scenic wonderland for outdoor photography. In my small town of South Mills, we had a post office, a gas station, and one stoplight. We were raised to be warm, polite, and welcoming, and I think that the same "southern charm" can be seen in my work.

Although I shoot candid portraits, lifestyle, and commercial catalogue, there is something extra special about shooting engagement sessions and weddings. Nothing is more important than family, so capturing those precious moments that are literally the beginning of a new family being formed is a special privilege. This featured session was one of my favorites because it allowed me to travel back to my hometown and highlight its natural beauty. I will follow this couple from their engagement to their wedding so I  am not only taking their pictures, but also capturing their unique story-their magic- as it is unfolding!

Since traditional posing can be a bit tense for some clients, I love to take them to a gorgeous outdoor location where they can relax and be themselves while I work to capture those amazing, spontaneous moments, all while having fun! This gives me the ability to showcase each clients' unique personality, and what's more fun than dancing on the boardwalk?

I am currently shooting my Christmas mini-sessions at a Christmas tree farm and we are having a blast! I want my clients to enjoy their experience from beginning to end as well as give them pictures they can treasure for a lifetime!
