BuffaLOVE - Wedding Photography in Buffalo NY

First and foremost: introductions!  I’m Jaimie, known to my friends as Jam, wedding photographer and owner of Jaimie Ellis Photography in Buffalo NY.  I wanted to share with this wonderfully creative community a session that really shows off my personal style.  But before I get to exactly what that is, I'd like to share my story (the shortened version, don’t worry!) and how my style came to be.

Before I knew I wanted to make a career as an entrepreneur and photographer, I was living life in the city of Buffalo as a hard headed 20-something.  I knew a few things for certain about my future: I wanted to photograph more, I wanted to see new places, I wanted vast amounts of time to sit and think and figure out life - basically I wanted to travel (a lot).

I was fortunate enough to find an equally restless friend and together we hit the road!  We hiked national parks, ate our way through big cities, volunteered on farms through the WWOOF program, and visited every family member and friend we could think of.   Boy was it inspiring!  So much so that I spent 6 months on the road that first time... 3 the next... 8 the next.  Needless to say - a ton of adventure and memories day after day after day.  I was desperate to catalog all of it, so I didn't forget a minute of it.  Details of day to day life living in a tent or cabin, candid moments of my travel buddies hiking, victory photos of the two of us on top of a mountain – these are the images that filled my camera on a regular basis.

Wondering how living out of a tent and photographing weddings relate?  I treat every couple's wedding day like one of those road trips.  Not one detail can be forgotten, not a single moment overlooked.  I’ve found my style in capturing candid moments, not missing a single detail and setting the scene with dramatic landscapes.

A mixture of home sickness and an excitement to grow my own wedding photography business eventually brought me back to Buffalo for good.  As exciting as it could be, living on the road, going to a new place every week, it could also be tiring.  I was ready for a new adventure – and trust me, starting my own business has been jam packed with just as many thrills!

This particular engagement session I love because it transported me to that same feeling of travel and adventure.  Something new and exciting was brewing.  I had met this lovely couple just a few weeks prior to their session, but it felt like we were old friends.  We lost track of time, told stories and laughed.  I love when sessions are this easy and free.  It makes capturing those ‘in between’ moments - the way they look at each other, the fact that they can't stop looking at each other - no effort at all on my end.

So that's my story guys!  I guess you can say I’m versatile – from living out of a tent to shooting high end weddings : )  Life is good in BuffaLOVE!
