Alex and Amanda’s Joshua Tree Engagement

At a time when the norm is to throw away what’s broken and start anew, the success of Alex and Amanda’s relationship gives us hope. Their secret? It is all in their approach. They believe that a relationship is something special, something always worth fixing. But Alex and Amanda’s commitment isn’t all that makes their story special. This cute Orange County couple happens to be high school sweethearts.

Their love story began the summer after 8th grade and continued with a determination to grow together through some of life's most turbulent years. And, though at times things were difficult, Alex and Amanda were rewarded with the most epic of love stories!

These two stuck together through prom, high school graduation and college before finally deciding to tie the knot in August of 2018.

Here at Kemp Photography, we love a good love story! So, imagine our delight when Alex (23) and Amanda (22) chose us, out of all of the Orange County engagement photographers, to capture their nine-year love affair!

The day we shot, it was well over a hundred degrees in Joshua Tree, yet all these two were worried about was making sure the other was comfortable; Amanda by ensuring Alex always had a cold beer in hand, and Alex by making sure Amanda always had someone to dab the sweat from her brow. Ahh, true love!

We asked them why they thought their relationship had lasted. As Alex brushed the hair off of Amanda’s forehead for the hundredth time, he said “ We weren’t allowed to see each other for the first few years of our relationship, so we had to put A LOT of effort into even the smallest things we did together. But we have felt so much love since we laid eyes on each other that we wanted to make it work.”

Glowing, as a bride-to-be does, Amanda added, “Somehow, we made it through. Now we really take advantage of every moment that we have together. We grew up together and we really are each other’s best friend. We can’t imagine life without each other.”
