Cleveland Family Photographer
by Tiny Tots Photography
I just love when I get a phone call asking for a session as a gift! As a Cleveland Family Photographer, I can’t think of any better gift than creating memories that will become treasured family heirlooms. And that is just how this session started.
Grandma contacted me and explained that her grandchildren, Haiden and Caroline, were coming to visit her for their spring break. Her daughter, Caroline and Haiden’s mother was in the middle of moving into a new house. And her birthday happened to be coming up. Grandma thought it would be fun to create a new wall portrait that Caroline and Haiden could give their mother for her birthday. I don’t know about you, but as a mother myself, I would be over the moon receiving that as a gift.
Outdoor Spring Session in Ohio
I seldom do outdoor sessions in March because the weather in Ohio is very unpredictable. But these two cuties would only be in town for a week. So, we decided to watch the weather and at the last minute pick the day that looked most promising. And that was Monday. The weather called for partly sunny and 50 degrees. Perfect! And, it was our only option. Tuesday was 100% rain. Wednesday, the temperature dipped below freezing. Thursday had a wind advisory and thunderstorms predicted. And Friday, they were headed home.
If you happen to live in Ohio, this won’t be a surprise at all. We woke up Monday morning to snow! And not just a light dusting! Caroline and Hayden did not come prepared for snow. They had no snow shoes or heavier clothes, so a session in the snow was not an option. I thought surely it would melt as quickly as it had appeared, but as the morning hours ticked by, the snow didn’t seem to budge. Finally the warm mid afternoon sun melted the snow away, just in time for us to start.
Session Day
When they pulled in, Gail started walking toward me with Hayden. Caroline was no where to be seen. She explained that she almost canceled. Caroline had a cold. And she was overtired from being at a waterpark all weekend. She had a melt down at home and refused to put her outfit on. Grandma said she decided she still wanted a few pictures of Hayden, but that Caroline probably would not be joining us.
I took Hayden for his pictures and that way Caroline could have a little time to relax and take in the new park. I was hopeful that a little time and a cute girly tent with flowers would be enough to get her excited about pictures. And that was all she needed. I promised her we would have fun playing in the tent, running, jumping and exploring.
She she did just that! She raced her brother up a path, jumped off of rocks, and read books in a tent. You would never know it was chilly. Or that the ground was wet from melted snow. That Caroline had a cold. Or that she was in tears just before the session started. It all came together beautifully and I hope these images become treasured memories for their family.
