Can I See a Printed Proof of My Invitation?

Yes, please contact customer service for assistance in adding this additional service to your order. Please be sure to read the following before doing so:

  • What is the Cost of Printed Samples? There is a fee of $30 for printed samples of custom invitations and of $15 for each enclosure card. While this may seem somewhat expensive for a single invitation, one must consider that commercial presses do not operate in the same a home or office printer does. There is an extraordinary amount of setup labor required to run a piece on a commercial machine. In short, in purchasing a custom printed sample, you aren't paying anything for sample materials, you are only paying the costs associated with labor and shipping.
  • Custom Printed Samples Turnaround Time:Printed sample orders take just as long as full orders to fulfill. If you are planning to order a custom printed sample, you should allow 4 business days plus estimated shipping time. These dates, as with our full orders, are not flexible. Please do not order a printed proof if you cannot allow the necessary delivery time. Printed proofs do not speed up the production time of your full order.
  • What We Recommend:For brides who do not wish to spend additional time and money on the printed proof we recommend ordering a pre-designed invitation sample. On our website there is a selection of pre-designed invitation samples available for order. While these may not be your exact invitation, they will allow you to see our paper types and print quality without incurring an unnecessary expense. Through a pre-designed invitation sample and your electronic proof, you will have a 98% accurate idea of how your final product will look.
How Do I Get My Pictures to You?

Most photographers now shoot their images with digital cameras. If you own the copyright, it is common practice for your photographer to put your images on a CD/DVD, or to provide access for you to download them online.

Once you have obtained a digital copy of your images, getting them to us is easy. You may do any of the following:

  • Upload the images though our website while you are placing your order. (Recommended Option)
  • Email the images to photos[at]basicinvite.com
  • Mail us a disc with the images you wish to use. Please note that if this option is selected, the disc will not be returned.
Tips To Get The Most Out of Your Photo Invitation
  • Provide us with the highest resolution of photos available. Typically this means your photo file size will be no smaller than 2MB. If you need help finding out the resolution of the image you possess, please contact your photographer.
  • Choose photos that are zoomed in to provide a clear view of your faces. While it is fun to use trendy, more stylized photos, your guests will appreciate being able to see a clear picture of your special someone. Besides, don't you want to show them off?
  • Wear clothes that do not have distracting logos or graphics.
  • Choose clothing that will not clash with the colors you have selected for your invitation or vice versa.
  • Smile! You may not like your smile, but this is a happy time! Choose photos with both of you smiling. Everyone likes to see a smiling face.
  • When taking your pictures, take your invitation design into consideration. For example, one of our invitations requires a photo that is in landscape orientation with the couple offset to one side. This allows us to use the photo for the background while still having room for the necessary wording. Photographers aren't mind readers so if you have needs such as this, please let your photographer know. They will welcome any suggestions you give them.
Can You Color Match?

Yes! Mail your color swatches to us. We will have one of our color specialists match the color. Colors can also be pulled directly photos, so be sure to let us know if you would like this done. There is no extra charge for color matching.

When Will I Receive My Order?

When you place your order we will provide you with an estimated fulfillment date. We generally suggest allowing a minimum of one month prior to mail-out date. Allowing plenty of time provides a cushion for unforeseen delays or unusual issues which to be corrected.

Will My Invitation Cost More to Mail?

Unless you are mailing out a square invitation the answer is usually no. The postal rates are constantly changing, so to ensure that you there are no surprises, when it is time to mail your invitations, take your printed proof in to the post office and check with them directly.

You may also read about their rates by visiting the U.S. Postal Service website: www.usps.com

How Many Extra Invitations Should I Order?

Because subsequent orders of invitations cost significantly more than an initial order, we generally recommend ordering 5 to 10% more than your guest list requires. This will typically allow enough wiggle room for mistakes and forgotten guests.
