Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I Order a Custom Printed Sample?
No, unfortunately you are not able to order a custom printed sample. However, we offer something even better! Basic Invite offers an industry-first Risk-Free Guarantee on all orders.
- How do I know I'm ordering a quality product? You are invited to order a generic sample. These samples are more than sufficient to address any concerns you may have over the quality of our products.
- What about my colors? The colors you see on your screen will be in the ballpark of their printed counterparts. To aid with color selection we have created a color guide which contains all of our 168 offered colors. This color guide is included free with all generic sample orders, or can be purchased for a small fee by itself.
- What about my photos? If your photo is a nice, clear photo with no color or quality issues prior to uploading, and you receive no error messages, your photo will print fine. Occasionally, the preview image generated by our website will cause them to look less clear than they will print. However, if your photo is poor prior to upload, they will be poor when printed. If you receive an error message after uploading your photo, then you should not use that photo. Doing so will void the guarantee we offer and will most certainly result in an undesirable print. Our staff reviews all photos and will notify you prior to print if they detect any issues with the photo that will impact print quality. Generally speaking, photos usually don't present an issue for us.
- What about my text?Customers are responsible for providing accurate names, dates, times and locations. You are able to have family and friends help you check these items electronically and there isn't a need for a printed sample for this purpose.
- How Do I Get My Pictures to You?
Most photographers now shoot their images with digital cameras. If you own the copyright, it is common practice for your photographer to put your images on a CD/DVD, or to provide access for you to download them online.
Once you have obtained a digital copy of your images, getting them to us is easy. You may do any of the following:
- Upload the images though our website while you are placing your order. (Recommended Option)
- Email the images to photos[at]basicinvite.com
- Mail us a disc with the images you wish to use. Please note that if this option is selected, the disc will not be returned.
- Provide us with the highest resolution of photos available. Typically this means your photo file size will be no smaller than 2MB. If you need help finding out the resolution of the image you possess, please contact your photographer.
- Choose photos that are zoomed in to provide a clear view of your faces. While it is fun to use trendy, more stylized photos, your guests will appreciate being able to see a clear picture of your special someone. Besides, don't you want to show them off?
- Wear clothes that do not have distracting logos or graphics.
- Choose clothing that will not clash with the colors you have selected for your invitation or vice versa.
- Smile! You may not like your smile, but this is a happy time! Choose photos with both of you smiling. Everyone likes to see a smiling face.
- When taking your pictures, take your invitation design into consideration. For example, one of our invitations requires a photo that is in landscape orientation with the couple offset to one side. This allows us to use the photo for the background while still having room for the necessary wording. Photographers aren't mind readers so if you have needs such as this, please let your photographer know. They will welcome any suggestions you give them.
- Can You Color Match?
Yes! Mail your color swatches to us. We will have one of our color specialists match the color. Colors can also be pulled directly photos, so be sure to let us know if you would like this done. There is no extra charge for color matching.
- Do You Only Do Wedding Invitations?
Our specialty is wedding invitations, but because our announcements and invitations are custom-designed, we can do invitations for any event or occasion. Bridal showers, baby showers, bar mitzvah's, graduations, corporate events, custom menu's; you get the idea. Give us a call, we'd love to speak to you further about your needs.

- How Much Do Your Invitations Cost?
We believe in up-front and easy to understand pricing. The price of our products is clearly listed on each product page. We do not charge extra fees for invitation customization or product shipping.
- What Can I Customize On My Invitation?
Everything. Through our website, you can easily customize colors, change patterns, and add specific wording and photos. However, if you would like additional help with customization, simply contact us and we will work with you to create the perfect piece. We will not charge anything extra for special customization requests.
- What If I Don't Order Enough?
Not a problem. We keep all of your files safely stored for such situations. Simply contact us for pricing and ordering information.
- When Will I Receive My Order?
When you place your order we will provide you with an estimated shipment date. The estimated shipment date we provide takes into account company closure dates, holidays and weekends, so it is the best way to estimate when your order will ship. While most orders ship within two weeks, we recommend you order a few weeks before you need them. We generally suggest allowing a minimum of two weeks prior to mail-out date.
While we always do our best to ensure your order arrives in the time frame and with the quality you expect, delays and problems can happen beyond our control. Allowing plenty of time provides a cushion for unforeseen delays or unusual issues which to be corrected.

- Will My Invitation Cost More to Mail?
Unless you are mailing out a square invitation the answer is usually no. The postal rates are constantly changing, so to ensure that you there are no surprises, when it is time to mail your invitations, take your printed proof in to the post office and check with them directly.
You may also read about their rates by visiting the U.S. Postal Service website: www.usps.com
- How Many Extra Invitations Should I Order?
Because subsequent orders of invitations cost significantly more than an initial order, we generally recommend ordering 5 to 10% more than your guest list requires. This will typically allow enough wiggle room for mistakes and forgotten guests.
